This thread reminded me (vacuums/injury) of something from about 26
years ago, A man who was deep sea diving had the neccessity to use the
bathroom while deep sea diving (Ref: see [1] below) While he was sitting
on the toilet, the toilet was flushed from the outside (for a reason I
don`t remember) at which time his intestines were rapidly sucked out
through his anus by the high pressure vacuum, and in to the toilet, at
which time he (out of reflex) reached back and grabbed hold of them,
grabbing the last few feet of them (I think people have about 32 feet of
them) They had to send down doctors/surgeons to operate on him under the
water (in the bathroom I assume) because they could not return him to
the surface in his current condition, the way that they had to repair
his body (less the greater part of his intestines) was not the ideal way
it would have been done had he been in a medical facility, this is a
TRUE story, I met him personally, the mans last name is/was Boone
(spelling may be a variation, I was about 12 at the time, I think this
accident happened a few years earlier... approx. 1965-72?) I met him
personally through my aunt who was his "full time" nurse for several
years after this accident (she has since past on), I vaguely remember
seeing a news paper article about a monetary settlement he recieved
because of this, I believe that this accident happened off-shore in the
Gulf of Mexico, around an oil drilling rig site (I grew up in Southern
Louisiana), I would really like to know all the facts of this story if
anyone has ever heard if this, I have searched engines on the web, but
came up with nothing, I will post it if I find it - Thanx

[1] the bathroom that divers use under water is basically a small tank
under the water that you enter through a bottom hatch, its filled with
air at the appropriate pressure to keep the water out, at which time you
can remove the necessary scuba gear and do your business in an air
filled environment with out having to return to the surface, and then
return back to the sea (avoiding pressure change related problems), the
flushing process is initiated from the outside (when it is un-occupied,
and you`re done) by pressing a button, or turning a valve, at which time
high presure enters the room, and forces the air in the room in to the
toilet, and up a pipe to sea level where it will not become pollution
for the environment
