Jammer, Nice idea on your single tank adapter. Try this to solve your problem: Take some small diameter (1/4" or so) vinyl tubing and split one side of it and slip it over the each edge of the channel. If it falls off when the adapter is not attached to the tank, fill the tube with RTV (GE Silicone II or equivalent), put the tubing on the channel, strap it to the tank (or any other surface) and let it set up ( about 24 hours). When be sure to wipe off any excess RTV BEFORE it dries. Once it is dried it is a b---- to get off! Cost - $2.00 for the tubing and $4.00 for the RTV. Just make sure the RTV you use is silicone - it is warranted for 50 years (as a house caulk - not sure if the warranty covers using it as diving equipment) and remains flexible. Don't use the cheaper non-silicone caulks, they will harden after a few years! Actually, if you soften (read sand) the edges of the channel, I doubt if the aluminum would scratch the galvanizing, since it is considerably softer. It might mark it like the aluminum pots used to mark the ceramic covered cast iron sinks ( I might be dating myself here). Covering the channel edge is still a good idea because it will keep the adapter from slipping.
