Just a thought ... put a coat of rubber paint (tool coating) on the
edges of it.  Granted, it will ultimately have to be done again.  You
can pick it up at any hardware store or Wal-Mart.  I suggest roughing
the metal up a little prior to painting so it will adhere better.
