These situations ARE manifestations of diver complacency. Your product is clearly meant to supplant, not enhance, vigilance on the part of the diver. This at the cost of adding a potential failure point to the main first-stage regulator. The proper way to catch backup system problems is to keep that system as simple as possible and to check it as appropriate. Nothing about a conventional pony system makes this difficult; indeed, if my pony regulator should fail I can use any off-the-shelf scuba regulator in it's place, something I cannot do with your product.
