It might be interesting to look at the failure rate of air integrated
dive computers when they were first introduced and compare that to the
current failure rate. We must remember that this is a relatively new
technology here.

You know, this whole thing reminds me of when the scuba
industry first went from dead reckoning available air to the "J" valve
reserve system to the submersible pressure gauge. Seems to me that there
was an outcry concerning the reliability of the SPG and that it was a
new and un-necessary piece of equipment.

Maybe history is about to repeat itself.
