Jim, At the risk of being flamed... 1. Diving with a dry suit is a pain in the ass. I will use them when the water is cold, or long deco. 2. I do not consider my dry suit a redundant means of buoyancy. 3. Dry suit inflation and buoyancy control is added task loading I don't need when Charlie comes a calling. I will revert to best learned skills, namely BC inflator. 4. I have been using TransPac and Super Wings for a long time now, and all my tech dives are conducted with this setup. The extra inflator hose is not in the way it is clipped off. There is no additional task loading with this setup. 5. When CF happens, deal with it. We know from experience, that problems will compound in a CF, so it is better to have something you trust, know how to use left hand right hand, upside down or sideways, blind folded and both hands tied behind your back. This is "PERSONAL PREFERENCE" for me ;-) It works, and when the shit hits the fan, I can get the bra off the Catholic Girl. A true catholic girl will have a jacket over a sweater over a button-down vest over a French sheer with the tiny buttons on top of a slip. Multiple defenses which must be defeated to have access to the goodies, much better than a redundant clip, I can tell you. (It took me years to figure out that what you have to do is an "island hopping" kind of offense, namely bypass the heavy defenses and head straight for the motherland, surprisingly protected by only a panty.) To carry this analogy over to diving, use the right gear, i.e. drysuit, buoyant stages, liftbag rather than some convoluted "last defence".
