The case you describe gives me food for thought; first I'll make a quck =

metric conversion :-)....

135 feet are roughly 41 metres, which are (again) roughly 5.1 bar or Ata.=

If I understand well, he was breathing 39% oxygen, that would give him =

a pO2 of 1.989 bar, or if you prefer roughly 2.0 bar.. A pO2 of 2.0 =

bar on open circuit...no chance of N2 offloading softening the pO2 as =

could happen in a closed circuit O2 rebreather.

I'm afraid that we can all guess what happened. His mouthpiece being =

our of his mouth seems to confirm our suspicions.

A series of questions come to my mind... can anyone answer them?

When Steve Bidenda says he was experienced, did he mean he was =

experienced in air diving or in nitrox diving? What was his level of =

experience and/or certification (if any)? Was he planning to go that =

deep on that mix or was it an accident? Was his BC-Wings operating prope=
rly?
Was he aware of the O2 percentage he had in his tank/s ? Had he =

analized the O2 contents after blending/before using? Were the Tank/s =

properly labled with the mix's contents?

What could be the reason behind the diver in question's diving to that =

depth with that mix?
