The little sidetrack on inert gas compounds reminds me: I have read of some divers using neox (neon/oxygen) mixes. For example, I think I read that Ken Clayton was going to use neox for a trip to the Ostfriesland (380 fsw). Does anyone have experience with neon mixes? I have heard that neon is non-narcotic. It should have less thermal conductivity than helium, and require less decompression than helium for short exposures since it has higher atomic weight and diffuses more slowly in tissues. It is definitely more expensive than He (Clayton supposedly had Air Products Corp. sponsorship). Does neon produce HPNS in the same depth range as helium? John heimannj@ma*.nd*.gt*.co*
