Hm, it seems to me that it is unlikely that something would happen to your pony on the one dive where you are also having a need for it. Someone said here they used it 3 times in 20 years...it seems unlikely that on one of those 3 times it has a problem. I think that checking it at the beginning of each dive is sufficient. As far as knowing how much air is in it, the intended use for it is to ascend from a depth of 140 fsw or less and make a 3 mn stop at 15 feet. Why would you want to see the pressure of that tank? You are not going to use it in any planned situation, and for the one unplanned situation you may need it for, it has enough air. Even if you run out at the 3 mn stop, it would be childs play to ascend from 15 fsw. No matter how redundant you make your setup, it's always possible that everything will fail. I guess in that case, you just have to write a letter to the Cosmic Coincidence Control Center, or give up diving. And crossing the street. And eating food. And breathing.
