Jim,

That is something I noticed on many divers, they dive to use their
equipement, not for the dive itself! Lot's of divers love to buy new
equipements just for the pleasure to dive like a Xmas tree!! I am sure
that if someday somebody discovers a way to dive with a gills instead of
the SCUBA gear, a lot of people will stop diving because they will not
have what to buy!! So that explains their need of diving with pony
bottles, flares, strobes, tubes and whatever their money can buy!
