Now I am not a technical diver in the least but I have been following
this incident very carefully.

Sure, some of the language could have been couched better, sure, some of
the diatribe is/was unnecessary since a clinical reporting of facts
would have done much the same thing.

But Tim, are you here suggesting that this incident should be SWEPT
UNDER THE PROVERBIAL CARPET?

1) I very much doubt that the death of three divers off Florida is
<carpet-sweep-wise-possible>, never mind who publicises it.

2) And more importantly: WHY SHOULD IT BE. George Irvine et al are/were
trying to HELP, against many (self interested) odds, and although I
agree that GI is somewhat abrasive (at least on this forum), I have no
doubts (personally) of his good intentions even though they might, at
least in small part, be self serving.

So, are you REALLY saying that it should have been covered up?

If so, you are very naive indeed :-(
