While using a pony rigged as a "stage", or redundant gas source, I assume that a second first stage via H valve on your primary single tank would be unnecesary. What if a pony was not used? Should an H valve be used for a redundant first stage if there were only the single tank. And if so, is this Hogarthian without a redundant gas source? And if it is or not, I always feel safer with a redundant gas source below about 70 ft. or so even with a no deco dive. This brings me to my next thought; just maybe it would be better to go with a small set of doubles ala true Hogarthian and be done with it. I suppose either the "pony stage" or the small doubles will work. I guess I would appreciate any feedback as I get sick when I think of all the money $$$$$$$$$$$ I've waisted on stroke gear in the past, and would like to get it "right" this time. If not using a battery canister on the right hip, would I be better off using a 5' long hose instead of a 7'? I think you, George, mentioned using a shorter long hose in openwater. Is it a 5'? Thanks to all who have posted on the OPENWATER HOGARTHIAN issue. You have helped me work out some of the details. I have the DIR video and am trying to apply it to openwater.
