Every day there is one less place to dive. The reason is that early "tech divers" just did not have any idea of what they were actually doing. There have been so many deaths, and we have lost so many sites, that it is time we (the diving community) do something about it, or it will be done for us by governments and land owners. We dive beyond recreational limits. And even though we dive for recreation or "sport" we absolutely must start acting like pros. Deciding to dive while under the influence whether or not acclimation is a factor is just an amateurish thing to do period. I do not care about gear configuration arguments, however there is no personal preference when it comes to diving deep using air. It is simply unsatisfactory. Steve, a couple of years ago there was an article in Aquacorps magazine titled "the call of the Wah Wah" It was about "tech" instructors and other "professionals" deep diving on air. The article caused an uproar in the community because if instructors and pros were not setting a good example, why should anybody listen to anything they have to say? I would like to take it a step further and say, as divers who dive beyond recreational limits we have a newfound responsibility not just to our loved ones and our dive buddies, but to everybody in the community. We have a responsibility to not get ourselves killed being amateurish and doing things that are blatently unsafe, which is exactly what deep air diving is.
