The main problem I have with this method is that the diver is free 
floating and it requires that the boat crew see and follow the diver.  
There are many senarios where this could result in problems:
1.	Mooring line for boat breaks with boat drifting away not noticed 
by crew.  Where do you search for diver?
2.	Multiple divers in the water and only one ascending off the 
mooring and/or you do not know if the others are making free ascents.  
This will usually put at least one diver at risks.

I could generate other scenarios however I think this illustrates why 
it's best to have the diver maintained in a fixed and known location when 
making any type of ascent.
