Ken, this can all be solved by one method : proper cave instruction in
the first place ( not DPV instruction ). This is where people learn the
right attitude, gear confugrations, and techniques. With the current
collection of clueless instructors teaching others, there is no chance.
That is what needs changing, not the rules. How many of these clowns
actually do any real cave diving, or dive other than for money ( and I
do not mean the legion of waddling drooling goobers who claim they are
part of the so-called dream team of no-shows).

For example, what kind of stroke would dive a Zepp in Ginnie? I know
of one , and he is an insructor, and he is not even one of the really
bad instructors. The rally bad ones are so stupid , and you can see this
by looking at them , their gear, their sloppy personal appearance, and
by listening to their slack-jawed farm animal demeanor, watching them
smoke cig after cig while teaching, watching the fat bearded slobs with
trash gear and mutillated pickup trucks ( "another deer jumped right out
in front of me" (( read pot-smoking , drunken half-wits))), and
listening to the mindless drivel they spread around, like the latest
crap out of one of the most seriously retarded "instuctors" out there,
the famous "know when to leave your buddy" poster boy farm animal stupid
goobermeister.

In addition, the use of inappropriate gear from stuffed hoses to
helmets to dv3x scooters is symptomatic of that instruction, and the
attitude that goes wtih it.

The only rules needed for cave diving are Rules Number 1, 2, and 3 (
for rebreather diving). The rest will take care of itself. It is time to
look at new guidlines for instructors, starting with mandatory drug
testing, not DPV rules. These mercenary scumbags are ruining it for all
of us. Let's clean up our own backyard.
