Well, the torpedoes have a small prop shroud aft with side handles and do
resemble a small, cheesy-looking torpedo.

But I think the ones you are referring to either a Farallon, Arnold
Jackson Predator or a AquaZepp. These are generally used for long range
cave exploration. These damn things can approach 6' in length and weigh
upwards of 200lbs. Their prices start at $2800 and go on up. Can you
imagine getting one of these huge bastards on/off the dive boat in a good
sea?

I've tried a new small model Farallon, you climb onto it like a
motorcycle, with a T bar pushing you on the butt. It was fun, but it was
still a PITA to get on/off the boat. George makes the best scooters, but
the Dacor is all I need for now.

I keep the dacor on full blast all the time, but I think you have a good
idea to tone it down a bit when moving sand. I get carried away and try
to uncover the whole wreck in one blast. Plus the black sea bass
appreciate it, all sorts of chow go's flying when I'm at it.
