Ginnie Springs, a private business, does not need to consult the NACD or
the NSSCDS on how it does business. They've made a decision and here's
how we can help you with it. The NACD does not charge for a Wakulla Award
and offers the award to all divers...in other words, you don't have to be
a member - always has, always will. I've inserted a copy below. If you
have any questions about the application, email our general manager, Judy
Bauer at afn56221@af*.or* and she can help you with it. E

Wakulla Award Application

The NACD established the Wakulla Award in recognition of safe cave dives
accomplished. This award is named in honor of the first use of compressed
air and diving equipment in an underwater cave in the United States.

The award is given upon suitable documentation and authentication at
     the following levels:

Bronze Wakulla Award - 100 or more hours of bottom time in the cave zone
or 100 or more safe cave dives.

Silver Wakulla Award - 500 or more hours of bottom time in the cave zone
or 500 or more safe cave dives.

Gold Wakulla Award - 1000 or more hours of bottom time in the cave zone or
1000 or more safe cave dives.

All cave divers are eligible for this award and there is no fee. To
receive the award, the diver must do the
following:

 1.	Take application, log book, and a copy of the 100th, 500th or 1000th
dive log entry to an NACD instructor. 2.	The instructor will verify
that the appropriate number of safe cave dives have been accomplished by
reviewing the log book.
  3.	If the log book is in order, the instructor will sign the diver=92s
  application for the Wakulla Award.
 4.	The diver will then mail the application and the copy of the 100th,
500th or 1000th dive log entry to:

I have just one question.
How much is the NSS-CDS
and the NACD. paying Ginnie
springs to enact this. I am heading
for 300 logged cave dives and have been
riding for a couple years now and will not
be permitted to dive Ginnie this way because
I do not have an award from one of these.
I agree something like this needs to be
done but forcing one to join up for this award
I think is wrong. The presentation of my log should
be enough.
