R- I have to strongly disagree with you on this. Just because somebody has a PADI cert (at whatever level) and does something stupid does not mean it is a product of PADI training. PADI is strongly aginst diving air past 130' and offers no training in such activities or in any way endorses such practices. If it was a result of PADI training and not TDI I would speak out aginst it (I have no fear of such actions) but there is no way you can correlate a deepair CF with PADI recreational training. Your right though that many go through a PADI IDC/IE and mistakenly feel they have reached the pinnacle of experience and knowledge but the same goes for just about any recreational agency. Even though I am a PADI member I'll be the first to admit that many new instructers know less than many dedicated divers but most of these wash out within the first year or wise up. Remember this is a recreational training agency not a technical one but then again the standards of a certain "tech" agency in question are much lower than many recreational agencies and PADI's are higher than most.
