Have found that some computers, such as the Datamax Pro, simply die
on 50m+ dives when descending to fast (30m+ per minute). I beat Rodale did
not mention that!
It goes to show - plan you dive, including deco before you enter the water
by cutting your own tables!

Rodale Scuba diving have done a fair amount of tests on computers. Refer
to their info at http://www.scubadiving.com/

There are summaries of computers, and also tables on features,
conservatism etc. Maybe it can give you some insight.

We have a few Oceanic computers in the club. We had some that gave
trouble on deeper dives. (50m +; 160ft +) Usually it started loading you
with Nitrogen at about 5x the required rate. Anyone else that had similar
experiences?
