For example here in North Carolina (USA) warm, clear Gulf Stream waters run off our coast and move farther offshore in the winter. Even in summer the vis 12 miles out tends to be in the 60 foot range while it may be 100+ feet 30 to 40 miles out. Right now the water temp 12 miles out is in the low 60's (F) and is running about 77 (F) 100 miles out. So in our case both vis an water temps usually improve the farther you go out.
