24" for the hose , and the closer the reg is  to your neck, the less
chance of it freeflowing. You can indeed reach it with your mouth, and
the other benefit of a short lease is that you can put the leash behind
your head and make it hold the reg in your mouth if you are feeling bad
( like you are going to tox). John, the qustions are not stupid.
