"octo" is next to "air tables" in the dictionary of modern anachronisms - forget "octo", it is "backup": your backup reg hangs around your neck. You are effectively breathing the "octo", which is actualy called the "primary". I can see what a great job of dive instruction is going on out there. The correct modern useage of the word "octo" is when you are orgering a stage bottle regulator: ask for the "octo" hose so you get a hose long enough for the stage bottle. Otherwise, this term is only used in sushi restaurants, and only a stroke like John Todd would eat an octopus, anyway.
