Going down fast just makes you notice the narcosis - it still takes a couple of minutes to hit, however. Going slowly allows both the judgement to get sufficiently impaired to accept the narcotic state, and allows the boiled frog effect to work: if you throw a frog in boiling water, he will jump out, but if you put him in cold water and bring it to a boil, you can cook him. Anyone who suggess that there is any such thing as an "ability" to deal with impairment is full of shit, and TBA.
