This is a nice opening paragraph... it really sets the stage for a well-reasoned and informative position. > The Hogarthian principle is a very sound one and one of its' greatest > achievements is that it makes people think and think very hard about their > gear configuration. It's true -- I have no need for a front D-ring, and therefore I don't take one with me on the dive. I have plenty of spares in my toolbox, so if the need arises I will plan accordingly and spend a minute to add it to my harness. Unless you are claiming there is some need I've overlooked, then clearly it is better to not have it than to have it. How much better? It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter at all. If you don't understand why, then I'm afraid you just don't understand the underlying principles. I would have a little trouble applying the word "fanatic" to someone who *didn't* do something there would be no benefit from doing. Can you give me a hand with this logic? Why be wrong when it's easier to be right? > "You must wear a light canister to your right, on your waist belt" > "You must wrap a long hose under this canister and around your neck AND breath > from it" > "You must donate this hose and reg to your out of air buddy" > > Rather dogmatic and inflexible if you ask me. This "you must" business is a fabrication of yours. Each point is done for a reason, and most Hogarthian divers will gladly tell you exactly why if you haven't already acted like you're a lost cause. > [more of the troll deleted] This is getting boring. - Todd -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
