DCIEM is the Defense and Civil Institute of Environmental Medicine, a unit of the Canadian Forces concerned with physiology for everything from fighter pilots to clearance divers. In the diving end of things, they're best known for decompression table development using Doppler ultrasound flowmeters to hear bubbles before they cause trouble. They do release their research, where applicable, for civilian use. Every year in late March or early April, there's a big diving convention called Underwater Canada running at a hotel in Toronto, and DCIEM offers civilian tours of their facilities (signup in advance, via the convention organizers). -- Anthony DeBoer http://www.onramp.ca/~adb/ adb@he*.re*.or* (here) adb@ge*.co* (work) #include "std.disclaimer" -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
