So, the consensus on the backplate is go with SS if you can afford it,
otherwise, aluminum will make you happy.

One additional question:

Are the wkpp style triangular weights homemade, or can they be bought
somewhere?  Should the size (length) of the weight be adjusted to
completely eliminate a weight belt? (assuming using lp twins)
