SNIP>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> G et-al This hurts - big time, but I have to agree. There is no such thing as 'planned deep air dive'. - PERIOD!!!!!!!! There is no justification - can never, ever be for what has happened. Mixed gas diving for 'us' came about to knock off the lunacy risk factor. Helen ( my, wife,) cried last night at my anguish and distress - she said it could have been me. The truth is that it never, ever could be me. I recall an entry in my dive log of around 2 years ago that relates to a fun trip to Malta/Gozo - it recalls a dive to 85 metres on air - the closing comment is 'NEVER,EVER,AGAIN'. Right now I have a problem discussing what has happened - however I plead with you all - Listen to what is being said:- Run PpO2 of no more than 1.4 for short duration dives - drop it for more than 30 - 45 min bottom times - the oxygen load accumulated during the dive plus deco will get you. Run END's of 40 metres or shallower as a maximum of - no greater than 60 metres with vertical relief (i.e clear surface). Please do not become comfortable with what you are doing in a 'pissing' contest context. For you and your loved ones sakes:- Get a dose of reality, we are in an environment that evolution told us to get lost from. We have to depend upon mission critical systems/techiniques/attitude - remember this when you are being hypnotised by the 'rebreather medicine man'. To use the 'physiological' advantage of what we do you can no have a public verses private attitude. Either have a crap or get off of the toilet. The jerk factor out there is very high - teach them right or get back under your stone - PERIOD -- Send mail for the `techdiver' mailing list to `techdiver@aquanaut.com'.
