Just got my backplate/harness/wing deal that I'd ordered. (AUL b/p, Seapro wing) and noticed that I can't _quite_ get the left side waist strap far enough around to the right to *properly* utilize the buckle to secure my Spectrum 14 canister just behind the right hip. I considered a couple of solutions - longer harness straps for one. A friend suggested a second buckle slid up the right side strap to secure the light. At first, this seemed terribly *un-hogarthian* - an extra piece of gear that only did one job vice fitting into the system... On further reflection it seems to me that relying upon one and only one buckle to secure the light in place AND keep everything fastened together (while it is certainly clean, trim and neat) opens the door to a bit of a potential mess should one ever need to do a "doff & don" in the water - such as during an entanglement, or in a tight restriction.. Not using the second buckle leaves your light canister unsecured and flapping in the breeze once your primary buckle is undone. And that's anything but clean. Conventional wisdom please.
