I am not sure of availability in the US, but such a unit is available 
in Europe (I am familiar w/ one manuf in Germany).
By putting the exhalate through a CO2 scrubber, the otherwise wasted 
exhaled O2 is recycled, extending the O2 supply.  In addition, they 
claim that they R able 2 pressure ventilate a non-breathing victim w/ 
that system using a bag-valve mask.
