"A scuba regulator is the steam engine of diving gear. It's been around for a long time. By comparison, a rebreather is like a space shuttle." Ed Thalmann/Duke University The Proceedings of Rebreather Forum 2.0 are now available. Held last September in Redondo Beach, CA, the Forum brought together a highly qualified group of over 100 specialists, experts, vendors and experienced practitioners, representing a variety of communities, to discuss the future of rebreather technology, and its application to sport diving. Their findings and recommendations, along with a complete transcript of the meeting, and a series of excellant resource papers by authors such as Drs John Clarke, David Elliott, RW Hamilton, Ed Thalmann, Dick Vann, (including Richard Pyle's closed circuit operations manual) have been published by PADI's DSAT subsidiary under the title, "Proceedings of Rebreather Forum 2.0." Edited by Michael Menduno, Drew Richardson, and Karl Shreeves, the 290 page "source book" has a wealth of rebreather information and is available from PADI for $29.95 ($19.95 for attendees).
