Juergen,

I have been told that the Van der Waals is appropriate up to at least
1000bar, but my field is mathematics and medicine, so my physics
is rusty to say the least.

As to mixtures and the Van der Waals, when looking at air, the
constants for Nitrogen and Oxygen are so very close that I
use a linear extrapolation.  I do not play with other mixes, as
I am not sure how to handle the mix with Van der Waals, and do
no feel that a simple extrapolation is the right way to handle this.
