Here is another angle from the man himself ..
Appart from narcosis, I would think if you plan a dive with over
1.6ppO2 at your working depth you need your head read. An OxTox hit at
60m is kind of final and also outside of your control. I don't like
things outside of my control - do you ?

P.S. if you are bored without George his mail address is below (and
shown in the archive) so send him a message about deep air. He likes
messages about deep air.

It is hard to belive that helium is much more expensive than here.
We pay
.20 per cu foot, or about 35 for a hundreds fill of 50%. Nitorgen under
pressure
cuses the red blood cells to become rigid, ripping the small cappialry
walls,
and triggering all kinds of strectch recptors and nitorc oxide
releases, which
in turn trigger autoimmune repsosess that in a nutshell, aer what give
the
spinal and breain lesions , the feeling of tiredness, and the localized
bends.
The Germans hav long ago shown and proven the steady debillitation
of
narcocis at any depth, and the Navy long ago dispelled any myths of
aclimitization - there is none, only getting used to being fucked up.
It is silly, so we don;t do it. We are still trying to rmap
Wakulla
Springs which ws hoplessly fucked up by air divers originally.
We konw better now, but if you can not get helium, don't deep
dive. I
uswed to do it, and now I hate the feeling and the results. - G
