Subject: RE: What hoses with a Full Face Mask?
Date: Sat, 16 Nov 1996 16:18:10 -0500

Hi Egil,
I don't know about George but I thiink he will be inline with me on this =
one: You should not use swivels of any kind on your primary and =
secondary air supply sources. Keep it simple is the principle. If you do =
not absolutey need it, do not add another possible failure point in the =
air supply chain. A swivel at the very least adds two more 'O' rings and =
reduces air supply volume. The second point may not be readily apparent =
at the surface, but at 150+ it can be very apparent! One the first point =
some swivels are absolutly dangerous. My advice 'Don't use 'em'. The =
danger far out weighs the benefit.

Helen says:

Wouldn't you

video).

I'm thinking now that this is where an elbow by the second stage is =
useful
again. If the hose from the FFM regulator is pointed down so that it =
hits
the front of the shoulder instead of coming straight out to the side =
(left
or right), the clipped off long hose can rest on top of the short hose =
and
is now free to be deployed as usual. Does this make sense?

Egil.
