Subject: Re: "Stroke" etymology
To: Bill Elliott <bill@nw*.co*>, <techdiver@terra.net>

Bill, the beauty of a word like "stroke" is that everyody immediately
understnds it. It conjurs up images for everyone of a stroke, and they are
always right.

The first time I ever heard it was from my instructor , Parker Turner. I had
heard about a cave diving accident, and had beenthinking of the horror of the
story , and wondering what to do if I found my self in that posiition. I asked
Parker. "Easy man, don't dive with strokes."

I said, "no seriously." He said, "I am serious".
