I wasn't going to get involved with this but it's been a long week
and I'm not able to dive this weekend so I would just like to
violently disagree with a couple of points.

I see nothing irresponsible in discussing any topic. You just have
to pick the appropriate forum. And this is the appropriate forum
for technical diving on the net. If you want to see inappropriate
say "solo diving" on rec.scuba.

Garbage. In that case all but one person may as well log off this list.
You can remain by virtue of your own statement: "if you're not giving
advice, you should'nt be posting it". So if you practice what you
preach then everything you post is advice. It would certainly stop me
posting because I'll never be qualified to give advice.

What position? In here he's just one of several dozen people expressing
personal opinions on advanced diving. If you attach more credance to
what one person says that is up to you. Don't assume everyone else does
the same. In fact you'll probably find that those people on the list
who are new to technical diving have never even heard of him.

It must be such pain in the backside to live in the US :-)
