Rod I don't know yet. I noticed the ding when I unpacked the camera this morning after my last trip. I can definitly see it through the view finder in air, when I cover the port with water I can't see it on the port. I ran it into some coral a couple weeks ago in hawaii after the camera stoped working (I had clipped it off). I went into a cave to look at some harlequin shrimp (while I was low on gas) and then pranged it on a coral head during the exit (I was low on gas and in a hurry to get out). I'm afraid I have some coral in the lense, not just scratches. After polishing it out I can still see some faint hexagonal marks through the viewfinder and I'm thinking about trying something more serious than crest, but I've been told that flame polishing is necessary after using real abrasives, hence the question. After hearing the advice so far, I think I'll try shooting a cassette next week. Maybe it's just a deep scratch. If the video doesn't come out it's not a big deal anyway. Thanks, Scott.
