Wayne - you nailed it!
Exploration divers at extreme depth are SOLO DIVERS. You also picked up 
on the fact that they are also diving in an "overhead" environment. Only 
rather than rock they have the deco ceiling.
All good reasons to dive using the thirds rule. Any time I dive to depth 
I turn the isolation valve CLOSED on my manifold and swith regulators. 
This way I feel lore self contained. I also do the same in a real tight 
long cave restriction. I would do the same in a nasty sump, but I don't 
do those.
