Dear Randy, It sounds like you would probably enjoy our publications and will probably learn some things. As far as diving goes -- your best bet is to get to where you are going and get in the water and continue with good ole recreational diving for a while. The next step would be some specialty courses like--- Nitrox, a recreational deep diver course (130 fsw max) with a good instructor, and maybe a basic wreck diving course. Make sure that the instructor is one who puts you before his own ego and that he is not just teaching but also goes out and dives. Oh BTW its ok to throw his/her name up here to see if he's for real or not. These mainstays of the recreational diving business will give you a taste of some of the more challenging dives that can be done before venturing in to the highly expensive and more potentially dangeous world of technical diving.
