Subject: Re: Dive Planning
I am not familar with the course given by TDI for the extended range diver,
they should have taught you the calculations based on your SAC rate. I am
also not aware of the type of planning you can do with Proplan as it is not
what I use. The program I use will allow for multi level profiles to be
planned. You need to plan one as if you deco bottom mix (air) and then plan
it as if you are using the EAN 80 for deco. All your dives should have the
bailout built into the plan.

Example.

Plan with air, deco on Air. Using Twin 80s with a SAC rate of .5
Gas consumption = ATAxSACxTIME.

165' for 5 minutes = 15 cuft.
155' for 5 minutes = 15 cuft.
140' for 10 minutes = 27 cuft.
130' for 10 minutes = 25 cuft.
Travel to first deco stop at 40 = 5 minutes calculated at 130' for worst case
= 13 cuft.

Deco
40' for 1 minutes = 2 cuft.
30' for 6 minutes = 6 cuft.
20' for 10 minutes = 8 cuft.
10' for 26 minutes = 17 cuft.

The total gas used on this dive is 128 cuft out of a possible 160 cuft.

All of these numbers are rounded up and it does not take into consideration
your air used to inflate the wings at depth.
And this is best case senerio (nothing goes wrong and you follow your plan).

Plan with air, deco on EAN 80%. Using Twin 80s and seperate pony with EAN
80%.

165' for 5 minutes = 15 cuft.
155' for 5 minutes = 15 cuft.
140' for 10 minutes = 27 cuft.
130' for 10 minutes = 25 cuft.
Travel to first deco stop at 40 = 5 minutes calculated at 130' for worst case
= 13 cuft.

Deco
40' for 1 minute = 2 cuft. Done on AIR
30' for 3 minutes = 3 cuft. Switch to EAN 80%
20' for 5 minutes = 4 cuft.
10' for 11 minutes = 8 cuft.

Total air consumption = 98 cuft.
Total EAN 80% consumption = 15 cuft.

This all should of been covered in your course. This is a typical wreck dive
off of the Ft. Lauderdale area (Wreck of the Hydro Atlantic).

Hope this helps. Ray.
