  Pete, we use the lead acid , but we also have dry cell nicads for both lights 
and scooters. My nicads test out at 23 amp hours at a one hour rate. That is 
they will pull 23 amps for one hour. My lead acids of the same weight are 
testing at 14 amp hours at a one hour rate - wil pul 14 amps for one hour. 

  What that means is that my nicad scooter will burn 40 minutes longer with the 
same DV100 motor than the lead acid, and the light will burn twice as long, as 
those bateries that fit in the canister are real pansies. 

  What you are doing is just fine - same as us.- G
