George, in your description above, it sounds like the surgical tubing 
is "permanently" attached (as permanent as the mouthpiece itself),
and would therefore remain in place if you needed to breath the backup.  
Steve Hogan, on the other hand, described a setup where the mouthpiece 
was inserted into a loop in the tubing, and it sounds like the backup 
could be breathed either with the strap on or off.

Do you consider both approaches sound, or is permanent attachment an
important "feature" of the way you do it?
