OK, so English wasn't my major.  In fact I think I got a D.  The intent
of the above apparently insulting remark was not to slight all open circuit
divers, or to suggest that all open circuit dives are bullshit.  The 
intent was to slight myself since I spent 4 months hassling Biomarine
because I was too cheap to send them a measly $150US for a mouth
piece when everyone else who wanted a rebreather had long since ponied
up $13,000US.  But then $150US is $13,000CDN.  

Next time I make a joke ( even at my own expense ) I'll attach an 
explanation.
