Jim,

You did exactly what you should have done, and were I the idiot between the
steel plates, I would have owed you a couple beers at the end of the day.  

You made my point better than I could have - you stuck with your buddy, and
helped him out of a situation by flashing your light, and banging with your
knife.  

Me and my dive buddy eat dinner and drink together about 4 times a week, and
since he needs me to write scripts, he keeps an eye out for me to make sure I
only maim myself once in a while...  I watch out for him too, but the only
view I usually get is of his fins as he chases some rare ass-biting shark...
