I read a few years ago of a type of twin-hose regulator (= old-type, large
round on the cylinder top) where the pressure drop as it supplied air to the
diver, was not thrown away but drove a small propeller. To get enough power,
the diver had to breathe fairly hard, i.e. if he idled, he did not move much,
but if he swam fairly hard it gave him more power above his swimming power.
