I replaced my Monitor II battery about an hour ago. It was pretty simple. Very little room to silver solder the leads on. Now all I have to do is wait for the gell silicon to set. The directions tell you not to dive with it for a day. I guess I'll try it Thursday. I think this is the last battery I'll put into this computer. It cost $60 for the battery kit which included a lithium LR-07 battery, silver solder, and the silicon. If I put another battery in, it will be bought from a battery house in New Haven. I talked to Mark, and he said he thinks that battery goes for about 6-7 dollars. We're going to look tomorrow. I'm not sure where we can get the gell. I talked to the shop that sold me the battery kit. He also said the Monitor computer depth does drift in calibration to less depth than actual, but the time base should be good until it goes totally dead. I always have redundancy, and my bottom timer agreed with the Monitor, and my buddies computer and bottom timer. No differences throughout the dive. The wreck "Larchmont" located in Block Island Sound is a known depth of 127' at the base of the paddlewheels. The Monitor was showing 119'. I knew I was in trouble. But no problem, I keep the navy tables on my fins, added my usual stops and time for a 130'. No problem. The Monitor was reading high all the way up the up line. At 20' the monitor 12', everything else 20'. Thanks again for the info about the depth error with a low barrery. John Banks P.S. I also like the Aladdin Pro.
