Now that you've all come back from the rebreather get-together I'd like to
see if anyone has suggestions for my problem.

I am just starting a project to map a rather large cave beyond a sump. The
cave on the other side is very large and this could take years to finish.
Especially since there are only two people doing that mapping. The sump is
actually quite short (~165 meters) and not very deep (~10 meters) but the
problem is that getting the air into the cave takes a considerable amount
of time (do to distance and the negotiation of vertical passage). Each
miserable trip to carry air in only allows about 4 trips to the other side
and back. I'd really like to increase that number if possible.

So it seems like the obvious solution is a rebreather. Unfortunately, I
have no experience with them and I'm not quite sure I can afford one mostly
because I don't know what is out there. The depth pushes the oxygen limits
so an oxygen rebreather is is out (especially since there is some flow and
at times you need to work reasonably hard). Next in line seems to be a
semi-closed unit. The simplicity of the dive seems to make this a really
good option. I imagine a closed system is just too expensive for what I'm
hoping to spend. But I don't really know.

Anyway, I guess what I'm asking is for general advice. Can anyone recommend
an alternative solution? Can anyone recommend a supplier for an affordable
rebreather? Any hints/comments would be appreciated.
