as a Sherwood dealer and fan of that brand for many years i'd be 
interested to know which of their diaphragm first stages failed on you 
and in what manner. to the best of my (maybe limited) knowledge sherwood 
have not made a diaphragm regulator or if they did so it was around the 
time cousteau was in diapers
