So next time you see a post that *appears* to be *slamming* ANDI/BETTS or ISLAND, you might want to ask questions first before jumping to conclusions. Lord knows I should have asked who "Mark" was before sending my post-I now have to apologize to Mark Silverstein and hope that I can make up for thinking that it was he who made that rediculous post when it was you. You, the mates and the customers have no idea what *really* goes on. You only see a part of what goes on. >what I do know is that every time you >have a chance you blast ANDI/Ed/Island. Read AquaCorps, specifically the Wah Wah article. Even though I did not write any of that stuff, I was quoted saying that IANTD made a bonehead mistake, etc., -in an international magazine. I call it like I see it. So don't tell me that I go out of my way to pick on ANDI or Betts or Island. You don't know what you're talking about. >I am not trying to drag >JD into any of this, I just figured he has been your source of info. Wrong again. If I used JD's info then I would be implicating JD. He's on his own, and for the record, JD does not trash ANDI or Betts, at least not in front of me or in my store. If he does, he's fired. He can trash him all he wants on his own time, but not while working for me. >About agencies in general, I'm not alone in thinking >them all shysters, come on, 3 separate courses to learn Nitrox? >What's next, snorkel clearing? I am curious-who taught you nitrox and got you for three courses?? I teach two, a basic one for the newbees, and one that covers deco, oxygen and how to stage bottles, etc. Simple and straight foward. >As for the original post - are you saying that ANDI's procedure of >not using 100% O2 for partial pressure fills is wrong? Absolutely not. Just don't preach one thing , then do another. >Or are you saying that you witnessed ANDI personnel filling bottles with >100% O2 that were winding up with less than 50/50 ? Yes. >My %.002, I think in theory NOT using 100% O2 is smart. I agree, in theory. But in reality, you can't. I base this on my experience. I have no idea how many fills I have done over the past 6 years, but its a lot. 28%, 30%, 32%. 36%, 40%, 50%, 80%, 100%, you name it, I've filled it. And its a pain in the butt. You can only to this profitably by using 100% O2, a haskel, then topping off with air. You show me a better way that does not operate in the red, and I will gladly listen. Prove to me Partial pressure is dangerous when handled safely, and I will listen. I, like Deans and others, have never had a problem. >Your danger is under pressure, at temperature with 100% O2. So if >you cannot be CERTAIN of the condition of a tank(and you know >as well as I that you can't), and you are running >a fill station, don't fill to less than 50% with 100% O2 So I should fill to more than 50% oxygen??? You might want to re-think this one. >I've made this public mail so Mark Silverfishes name gets cleared. Mark (Silverstein) is a good guy. I'm sorry I implicated him without first checking that it was his post, not yours. I was surprised at first that Mark make such a post-he knows the "real deal" between me and ANDI etc. You don't, which explains why you posted such a rediculous post. You simply did not have all the facts. I hope Mark S. accepts my apology, and I hope I did not cause him any headaches at Island. >And no, my size 13 W's don't fit in my mouth - but I'm trying. I'll help you. >Mark Welzel >I'm not one of your deep diving guru's, I'm just the asshole they >grapnel the wreck with. At least we agree on one thing. ;-) Raimo. PS-next time you send a post, clearly identify yourself.
