Hi David, I'll tell you my solutions to the problem, although I don't think my solutions are of much general use. First, I put a lot of effort into keeping both me and the rig (with empty BC) neutral in the water. That way, if me and rig need to part company momentarily for any reason, we're not heading off in opposite directions. Keeping me neutral is easy - my rule number one is never dive in any water cold enough to require more than a 1/8" wetsuit jacket (like I said - may not be of general use). To keep the rig as close to neutral as possible, I use aluminum 100's and aluminum bailout bottles. As for getting in the boat, my solution to that is to only dive from small boats (17' Whaler is the craft of choice for me). You can clip the rig to the sternline, hop in the boat, and haul the rig over the gunwal. An alternative is to have a good swimstep at sea-level. Again, probably not of general use. Aloha, Rich
