May be some confusion here. I ment that maintenance is an important aspect
of safety not nessesarily cost. I don't think our operating costs are
much more than open circuit. Definitely more kit to lug around ( gas supply,
scrubber, test equipment etc ).

This is a bit of a headache and one of the reasons why we're plumbing an
O2 sensor into our loop. Currently I use my Bridge II in the 50% O2 CNS,
21% O2 deco mode which works pretty well for our breather. I wonder if this
is what they had in mind!

Note SEV = Surface Equivalent Volume.

I don't understand the claim that the loop will bottom under heavy
metabolic work loads. I'm guessing at the Atlantis I flow rate but if your
max metabolic rate is 2.5 l/m SEV and if the flow rate is 8 l/m SEV then how
can the breathing loop bottom? You're still adding 5.5 l/m SEV to the loop.
I understand how this works with the LAR V or an O2 unit ( I observe this
all the time with ours ).

When you say most of the time do you mean at depth or that only every nth
exhalation vents?

Here's a question. Would you regularly dive the Atlantis I solo? I do
most of my open circuit dives solo, I dive our O2 fully closed breather
solo, and I do most of my free diving solo. I'm not antisocial this is
a result of the type of photography I do. However I would not regularly
dive our semiclosed breather solo. I'm not talking about a solo dive now
and then or swimming off for a minute. I mean would you dive the Atlantis I
solo dive after dive?
